Video award category heats up as deadline nears

When Chartwell launched the People’s Choice – Video award category last year, we didn’t realize how many utilities were going to want in on the fun. We received a total of 43 entries — not bad for a brand new category.

This year, a week and a half before the June 14 deadline, I already have seven People’s Choice entries in hand. Given that approximately 95% of all my entries come in between 3 and 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on deadline day, I expect my research team will require more doughnuts and coffee this year to get through what promises to be an impressive crop of video entries and select the Top 5.

Chartwell’s Best Practices Awards, which will be presented at the company’s 20th Annual EMACS – The Customer Experience Conference Oct. 10-13 in Phoenix, recognize extraordinary performance among electric and gas utilities in regards to projects, programs and service initiatives.

Utilities may submit entries for Chartwell’s 2016 Best Practices Awards in the following categories:

The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, June 14.

The People Choice – Video Award is designed to recognize outstanding creative achievement in short video marketing/communications efforts such as TV spots or digital pre-roll. Chartwell judges will select the top five entries, and EMACS attendees will view the finalists and choose their favorites at the conference. Winners will receive their trophies during the Best Practices Awards luncheon.

Utilities may submit up to three videos, each no more than one minute long, for the People’s Choice Award. The videos may be part of a campaign that is also being submitted to one of the other Best Practices Awards categories, but they may also be submitted independently of other entries.

For each Best Practices category, three utilities will be awarded with gold, silver and bronze recognition at EMACS – The Customer Experience Conference. The renowned utility industry conference is focused on showcasing leading customer service and marketing initiatives and trends, highlighting timely keynotes and providing direct access to network with leaders in customer experience.
