Westar Energy’s ReliabiliTree vegetation management program, which began as a pilot in 2010, has historically drawn complaints and generated negative customer sentiment. In response, Westar Energy launched a communications campaign in 2016 to target customers more frequently through a robust digital and social presence. As a result, the campaign strengthened ReliabiliTree engagement and increased positive program-based sentiment and customer comments.
