As homes began doubling as daycares, schools and offices during the COVID-19 pandemic, uninterrupted access to electricity became more vital than ever. Recognizing this need, Hydro Ottawa launched the Battery Loan Program, which provides residential customers impacted by planned power outages due to cable replacement projects the opportunity to temporarily secure a portable battery pack to power simple electronic devices. Additionally, the utility transitioned its Planned Work Open Houses to a virtual format to continue the planned work conversation with customers. Hydro Ottawa took home Chartwell’s 2022 Bronze Outage Restoration Award for the project. Moderator:
  • Steve Waters, Senior Research Manager, Chartwell, Inc.
