SMUD Reassures Customers with ‘Stay Well’ Multimedia Campaign

Within days of California’s shelter-in-place order in mid-March, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District rolled out a multimedia informational campaign assuring residential and business customers they could depend on SMUD to maintain safe, reliable power. The utility also outlined flexible payment options and energy assistance rates to assist customers during the COVID-19 crisis. SMUD’s Communications, Marketing and Community Relations team produced all campaign materials – including a TV commercial – and obtained executive approvals while working remotely. Within the first month of the campaign, SMUD achieved 58% awareness among both residential and business customers.
