Consumers Energy Provides $12 Million in COVID-19 Payment Assistance

To support customers struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic, Consumers Energy launched a payment assistance program that gave $12 million directly to customers in need. The cross-functional effort leveraged IT automation, community partnerships, and wide-ranging internal collaboration to assist more than 40,000 customers. The utility took home Chartwell’s 2021 Notable Achievement in COVID-19 Efforts Award for the initiative.
